This looks very interesting Steve. I can see possibilities for use on some of our classrooms and I will definitly pass onto Ross and co. Did you buy the app yourself? I would be interested to see how it would go on an IPad (or similar device). I wonder if this would be the sort of thing that we could use as a 'first step' to implementing IPad/EBook in a classroom setting (part of a trial for the emerging technologies group). Im sure Ross would see the benefit of it as a classroom exercise tool as he already does paper based circuits.

Interesting observation Steve. Tutor/teacher presence is an important component in an online learning environment and letting learners know what your level of involvement (and theirs) will be is vital - we don't want them getting grumpy when their expectations are not fulfilled especially with regard to answering queries.

Interesting data really as it seems to associate use of the moodle environment and success. I wonder how much of it is 'subject/participant' influence or environment influenced? I.E. is it a case of just engagement with the environment that is a factor for success or is it that those participants who are going to succeed (because of their own internal motivation) are most likely to engage anyway? This relates to Kurt Lewins view that personality and environment influence behaviour and that it can be difficult to say that one is discrete (or indeed independent) of the other. Another factor is that engagement for success is dependent on the quality of engagement which is not nessisarily something that can be completely designed for in an online course (you can lead a horse to water but...) Still, the data collection is a great place to start for these types of discussion.
